In conversation with others it always seems that we are trying to outwit the other to gain some form of control and power – be this in a positive or a negative way. We do this because it gives us a psychological boost!

The problem with this power struggle is that it undermines the confidence of the one whose power is being taken away – because they then identify with you more than they identify with themselves.

It is like we each seek to fill ourselves up at each other’s expense. We unconsciously ‘steal’ each other’s energy – to try to control them and have them think in the same way as us.

Unfortunately this is not a win-win situation. One wins and the other loses. And by trying to dominate another it makes one feel more knowledgeable and powerful but it takes vital energy from the person that you are trying to dominate. Even the most well-meaning people do this.

Sometimes we voluntarily give our energy away. We give our energies to others – this is partly due to our own personal insecurities and partly because we are sensitive to other peoples’ needs – we wish for others to feel more energy so that they have more control and power. But by doing this we leave ourselves depleted and it contributes to us feeling a loss or that we are less than the other.

The whole world has become a competition for energy and power. It is happening both in our personal interactions with each other, within our communities, within the social enterprise and charity sector, in business in government and between countries. An endless and tiring fight for control and power.

There is a need to break free from this fight for control and power. To do this we need to better understand our personal struggles and our struggles with each other. Then we can break free from competing with each other for energy and transcend from conflict and power towards peace and harmony.

The key to doing this is to work on our personal inner world and by doing so we can better understand that there are other ways to access energy. And this can be achieved through meditation – tapping into different brainwave frequencies.

The Theta brain waves (4-7.5 Hz) are present during deep meditation and light sleep – this is the mental state used to create your reality. The Theta brain wave is the realm of sub-consciousness and it is here that we feel connection and unity with the universe. It is here that we experience vivid visualisations, inspiration, creativity and insight. And it is from here that we can move from power struggles to synchronistic growth and higher energy states.
